In 2017, Palenville will be celebrating its Bicentennial and getting new sidewalks along Rt. 23A. The hidden galleries will be featured in this small town event that offers the unexpected! The popular, summer art walk will offer 2 days of “pop-up” art galleries in unusual locations around the hamlet, including a scenic barn, local library, fire hall and others. Live music and an Art Tent offer art demonstrations and children's activities for the younger artists.
Visitors walk to locations and enjoyed the views of the waterfalls along the legendary Kaaterskill Creek.
This art event has a touch of Palenville's art history. During the days of the Hudson River School art movement the hamlet was the "base camp" for painters hiking into the ethereal Kaaterskill Clove. The Arlington House, a historical Civil War summer house, featured the hamlet's history and contemporary artists who continue the tradition.
The PAINT OUT gathers plein air painters to Palenville to enjoy the festivities and participate in our PAINT OUT sale and fundraiser. For more information, email [email protected].
