Mobile Phone Shootout
Frequently Asked Questions
You're not the ONLY one to ask! Here are some answers that might help you get ready for the SHOOTOUT.
1. Can I use any kind of camera?
Only mobile phones and tablets are allowed but any make or model will work (iPhones, Androids, etc.).
2. Do I have to be located in Palenville on that day?
There will be two competitions; a Local Shootout and an International Shootout. If you have the good fortune to come to Palenville for our Hidden Gallery Walk on that day, you can shoot in this area and compete in the Local Shootout. If you are in another state in the USA or somewhere else in the world, the International Shootout is for you. Any location goes!
3. Can I edit and change my images?
Absolutely! Use as many apps as you want to shape, color, alter, enhance, stitch, texturize, or anything you desire. Just be sure you begin with a shot that you took after 1 pm EST on Saturday, June 27, 2015.
4. Can I take photos on different topics other than those on the list?
Sorry, not for this competition. But, believe me, some of the topics will be so broad that almost anything goes.
5. How do I upload my images? Can I send more photos than you ask?
You'll get complete instructions before the Shootout day. We know you love your images but, unfortunately, we need you to pick only one per topic or if you have a Team, two per topic. That's still a lot of images!
6. What are the prizes?
First and Second Places will be awarded for both Individuals and Teams. The Local Shootout and the International Shootout will be judged separately. That makes eight winners. Winners will be featured in a group exhibition during the 2016 Hidden Gallery Walk in Palenville. We have great prizes including 2 iPhone Artistry private sessions with Dan Burkholder and new mobile phone gadgets and accessories. Stay tuned for more details!
7. Can I only submit photos taken during the event or can I send some that I took earlier?
You should only submit photos that were originally taken between 1 pm and 9 pm EST on June 27, 2015. The first capture of the image should happen during that timeframe. Taking an old photo and changing it into something different does not work for this event either. That's what makes this shootout something special!
