Call for Palenville Artists
Deadline: Aug. 10
Palenville The Hamlet invites all Palenville area artists to join us for a local art exhibition in The Clark House B&B barn located in the heart of the hamlet. This 2-day art event on Aug. 25-26th celebrates the town’s historic role as the place where American Art began.
As the area's Scenic Gateway into the Catskills, Palenville was an inspiration to the Hudson River School of painters and continues to attract artists, writers, musicians and others using various forms of artistic expression.
Eligibility: Open to all artists age 18 and over, living in or in the vicinity of Palenville, working in any medium (including drawing, painting, printing, photography, video, digital art, sculpture, ceramics, etc.). Selected work must be framed and ready to hang (if applicable).
Submissions:
1) Each artist must register by completing an Artist Registration Form (on this page).
2) Emailing a jpg showing 1 or 2 pieces of artwork that are available for the August show.
The jpg images should be smaller than 1 MB each. A good rule of thumb is to set the image resolution to 72 ppi and keep the long dimension of the image under 1024 pixels. Files should be titled as follows: firstName_lastName _ImageTitle.jpg
3) Each artist may send an artist statement but it is not required.
Artists will receive an acknowledgement by email when the registration form is received.
Artists will be selected based on skill, technique, originality and appropriate fit for the unusual exhibition spaces. Submissions should be cohesive and reflect a discernible creative sensibility. There will be a number of opportunities for solo exhibitions and also some group shows. If your work is being considered for a solo show, more jpgs may be requested.
Fees: Submission is free, however the artist will be responsible for the delivery and return of the selected work.
Publicity: Entry into this exhibition constitutes artist’s permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital form.
Liability and Sales: The Hidden Gallery Walk will observe every care and precaution, but cannot be responsible for loss or damage of accepted artworks. Accepted artists must contract with the Hidden Gallery Walk agreeing to exhibition terms including, but not limited to, installation schedule and liability waiver. The Event Director reserves the right to reject work not accurately represented by the images submitted, not properly framed, or arrives unsuitable for hanging. Artists are responsible for shipping or delivery. Detailed instructions will be provided after notification. Participating artists shall receive 80% of sales of any art sold from the event.
