Palenville area artists are coming together for a local art exhibition located in the heart of the hamlet in the beautiful, rustic barn behind The Clark House B&B, 3292 Rt. 23A, Palenville. This 2-day art event on August 25-26, 2018, celebrates the town’s historic role as the place where American Art began. The show will be open from 10 am to 6 pm both days.
The exhibition features 25 Palenville area artists working in diverse media including oil painting, photography, watercolor, wood, 3D printing, ceramics and much more.
As the area's scenic gateway into the Catskills, Palenville was an inspiration to the Hudson River School of painters and continues to attract artists, writers, musicians and others using various forms of artistic expression.
The community service group, Palenville The Hamlet, organized the summer event which will be held at the same time as the Kaaterskill Craft Fair at the Circle W Market, a continuing summer event held in another barn behind the Circle W Market, a short stroll down the sidewalks of Palenville.
Participating artists shall receive 80% of sales of any art sold from the event and 20% goes to support Palenville The Hamlet projects. The art show is supported by a Greene County for the Arts Community Arts Grant through the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts.
